Bob I know you know everything you just said there is false because it's been hashed out a hundred times on this forum.

Any sort of a face covering lowers viral load you might get. It'll block some of the virus, the amount will depend on the quality of the mask. Less virus is a good thing. There's good science now to indicate that'll lower viral load will reduce the severity of your infection. Nobody has ever claimed it offers you complete impunity. Furthermore any sort of a face covering dramatically reduces the amount of virus you expel into the environment and the distance it travels. That helps other people.

So wearing a face covering offers you some personal protection and a whole lot of protection to others. When you wear a mask and the other guy wears a mask the sum winds up greater than the whole and everyone is vastly better off.

Also wearing a mask doesn't make you look like a Chinese person, it just makes you look like a reasonable citizen.
