I have learned to always tie with the nose of my kayak facing the wind and add a little extra line. I rarely hit the pilon.

I've been thinking of getting a Rack-A-Tiers 15 LB MAGNETIC CABLE from Home depot. Do you think it would need to be larger? Bridge columns at Joe Pool are pretty wide!

Here is my Red Green method to do it...… Duct tape the rope to the pilon and make one loop around the pilon in your yak. Progress is man's ability to complicate simplicity and duct tape is a low tech low budget means to accomplish pretty much anything in a man's world.

Sorry for the late response. But they work great. I have been using just one. But one time I had to use two. So i will be asking every Lake to put medal on their pilons. LOL
