There big and the layout is great for fishing multiple people. I’ve only been guiding out of mine for 6 months so can’t say how well they will hold up. Its not the smoothest riding boat in rough water but it will handle some nasty stuff and keep you dry doing it. All and all I love mine and don’t have any regrets about it and there’s not much I would change about how it is setup.

I’ve seen and ridden in G3 boats and my honest opinion is that it would probably be my very last choice, I just never cared for riding in them. I don’t care for metal boats in general but of the metal boats I’ve been in the G3 was my least favorite. Second issue is I think they’re (I could be wrong) all powered with 4 stroke motors, it’s just a personal thing, but I would much prefer something that runs with a 2 stroke DFI motor.

I know several here on the Tn River that own them. The rough water handling is their biggest complaint. A 2400 would handle it better than a smaller G3. And 4 stroke is the only way to go. I'll never go back to an oil burner.

I’ve never been in that model but I owned a G3 for 10 years. Loved it as a river boat. But at the lake it was rough but I’ve never been in a smooth riding aluminum boat in rough water.., the G3 I had was well built. 2003 model I bought brand new.

Why do you prefer a 2 stroke over a 4? 2 strokes are loud, leave an oil slick wherever you go, and have a shorter lifespan.

I think the lifespan of any motor or boat for that matter is who owned it.. I’m still running a 1967 Evinrude 25hp that was my grandfather’s then my dads now mine. God only knows how many hours on it! All of us fished all the time. I also run a 1996 Johnson 150 on my bass boat. On the water almost every weekend. 24 years old. I know the new 4 strokes are supposed to be clean, but my two strokes don’t leave a oil slick. I properly mix the proper oil and I never see anything on the water. Not starting an argument just clarifying the facts.

That’s impressive...I’ve owned bunch of different 2 strokes over the years and all mine put out a slick. Even my E-tec and my V-max. I must have done the maintenance wrong or something. I have a Honda 225 4 stroke now and it’s the first boat motor I’ve owned that didn’t put out a slick.

Newer 2 strokes are nothing like that, the etec and opti burns as clean as a 4 stroke, is just as fuel efficient, better pickup, and much less maintenance.

I’m not impressed with the way the G3 2400s are built. If your set on that style of boat, which I do like the layout, I could list off serveral I would look at before that one.

Yes big10, list your choice of boats and what you like and dont like. Im not committed to the G3 2400 and I appreciate all comments, thoughts and concerns.
What I like the most about the 2400 is the layout. I had a guide tell me one time that there`s not a perfect boat, you can find something wrong with any of them. Of course that`s the same guide that told me setting in your boat in a lawn chair and starring at the water will make the fish bite, but thats a different story. I realize there`s good and bad but if I`m gonna spend that kind of money i want the opinions of those that have experienced different boats are maybe done the research before buying there own. Thanks again for your comments.

Check out the line of Gheenoes before buying a johnboat. I have had one for over twenty years and absolutely love it.

I have no input on the G3 but I did fish out of a SeaArk catfish 24. I loved the layout and the Livewell. Plus the floor was really easy to keep clean of Shad and slime. Only thing I didn’t like was it rode a little ruff, but we were on tawakoni and it was pretty stiff wind that day in February . The windshields sure were nice in the Cold

Gator Trax, Sea Ark, and Excel all make boats that I feel a far superior than the G3.
