Falcon lake a few years ago when water was high and backed up in those bushes...this pic was taken in Tigers creek...stiff flipping stick,65lb braid, junebug mag lizard and a stout 5/0 hook....drop that lizard in those bushes and you were going to have some hellacious battles with some big and very mean bass...biggest one I was able to get in the boat was 9lb4oz. and only because he chose to come out of the bush and fight in open water...I've had some on that I feel were bigger that tangled me up in the brush and I ended just taking scissors and cutting the line...have actually gone back in that brush, and caught (and lost) fish all day without coming out into open water....

and if you fished back there, you had to keep the rods you weren't using strapped down or risk getting them drug out of the boat by bushes hanging over in the boat...my 461 ranger didn't have enough storage (or I carried too much stuff) and my rod locker was always so full of tackle I couldn't put rods in it so I had to leave mine strapped down..

Last time I fished there the lake was 4’ high. Just a jungle of bushes. Did catch a bass on a spinnerbait off of the old church.
I hate photobucket.

Man I miss the lake being that high. That spot is literally a mile from water now.

one of the best fishing trips we ever had down there was early spring probably 2006-2008 and one of our guys mentioned after first day that he had noticed most of their fish had come from about 5 ft deep....I figured there were a lot of fish on the bed so next morning I worked my way from 8-9 ft deep out at edge of the flooded brush to about 5 ft depth and started fishing along that 5 ft contour....hadn't gone far and got a bite and missed the fish, dropped lizard back down and bam...5lb er nailed it....that confirmed those fish were bedding about 5 ft deep and water color on falcon you just can't see the fish if they are that deep...they were bedding at base of those bushes and lot of times they would nip at it or bite and drop it 2-3 times before you could get a hookset.also noticed that if you got shallower than about 4ft or deeper than 6 ft you didn't get near as many bites.....no telling how many fish we caught (and lost) that week but it was one of great trips you always remember...incidentally we tried to duplicate it in following years and did a little bit but just never timed the spawn just right again...

Great pics Beartrap, keep em' coming. Our boat used to look like that after trips to Ray Bob back when it first opened up.
