I was at the lake the other day and had about a gallon of water drain out of my bilge.

I thought the live wells might have some leaks in the tubing, so I filled the live wells when I got home and no leaks.

Then I looked at the plastic drain plug to see if it was cross threaded and it wasn't. It has been difficult to screw it in to seat the "o-ring" for several weeks. It dawned on me that that I had forgotten to grease the plug like I have done in years past.

Several times during the boating season I spread some silicone grease (the kind for your light bulbs) on the drain plug and insert. That makes it easier to seat the "o-ring" on the plug.

Anyone else have this problem with their plastic drain plug?

Maybe I should try grease on mine. It is a little hard to screw in. I do get a little water in there but not much.

I do the same thing. Just a little to keep it working smooth. Also when I put it in a turn it backwards till I feel the threads mesh then I screw it in. Stops the cross threading.
