I never even thought about using my jeep fridge... it will freeze your beer and keep fudge bars frozen in moab utah in the sun wheeling all day.. it doesnt really use a lot of battery juice Ive never put my jeep on a charger over night etc.

It does need to be on the night before. you can use it 12v or 110 so 110 the night before would be good. mines a little big for the boat... I have a 50qt I think.

Its a arb fridge freezer.

I’ve never had a hot drink from a built in ice chest on any bass boat I’ve ever fished in.

Maybe we need to get a petition going to the boat manufacturers and let them know what new features we want. Insulation on live wells and coolers.

I have always heard about boat ice chests not working well but I can tell you in both of the Legends I have owned, they basically work like a Yeti in the boat. Even in crazy heat, 2 bags of ice on drinks and food in the BIG ice chest behind the passenger seat and it stays cold all day long and there will still be quite a bit of ice in the boat at the end of the day.

I use my left over Listerene bottles and fill them with water and salt and freeze them and add them to my boat cooler, you can also add a cheap piece of aluminum insulation for your lid and put your plug in, never had a problem with drinks not being cold. Some of those performance cooler's can throw out your back with how heavy they are and you can have all the insulation in the world but it means nothing the more you open one up.

This is the ticket right here! This is exactly what I do in my Skeeter ZX. If I pre-cool the cooler the night before then I have no problem keeping ice the entire next day, even in the Texas summer heat.

This is also no different for Yeti, Igloo, Artic, etc... coolers. If you don't pre-cool the cooler first then the first bag(s) are doomed from the start and more ice will need to be added or the original will not last.

The only time we bring a cooler is in the summer for additional livewell ice. The boats cooler holds ice for the day and plenty of room for drinks

I do my shopping once a week and get gas at gas stations not provisions for each day.

I use the built in cooler because a bass boat is cramped enough without adding a huge hurdle into it. If it's just me carrying an extra cooler in the boat is no issue. However, it becomes a huge issue when I captain for my son's high school team. Put 3 people in a dual console bass boat with a cooler, it's constantly in the way. Even in a tournament situation with a co angler I am constantly tripping over it. My built in cooler will keep drinks cool all day. As for having enough ice to cool a livewell all day. No way.

Frankly in bass boats I can't see the need. The majority of bass fishermen aren't fishing numerous days on the water without getting back to shore where they can get more ice. In the offshore fishing game, it DOES surprise me that larger center consoles aren't offered with Yeti style insulation. I can't tell you the number of overnight trips where we've barely had enough ice left to keep fish cold when we left the dock with 20+ 20lb bags of ice.

My 2019 Skeeter ZX225 ice chest works great. One or two bags of ice lasts all day keeping 12 bottles of water cold. They are even cold next day, ice is melted, but still cold.

You guys saying your cooler works good who are adding 2 bags of ice do realize with a yeti flip, you could add one frozen re usable ice block and two hand fulls of ice for a full day right??

My ice machine doesnt make ice fast enough to have 2 bags of ice every day to use.

Unlike you, most guys stop on their way to the lake. Buccee’s sells bags of ice for less than a dollar.

Which BassCat do you have? My 2014 Cougar as well as my previous 2005 Cougar cooler's are/were terrible for keeping ice. This is the box between the seats. My buddy has a 2010 Ranger that keeps ice for a long time.

The new Nitros do very well holding ice, they have a 3/4 inch sandwiched insulated foam around the cooler. Not all the way to the top though.

Now if they had a lid that was air tight it would be even better.

Do we really need ice to last for 3 days? I don't.
