CAT held the second tournament of the year on Lake Tawakoni today. Total of 32 teams put their crappie catching skills to the test. Thur and Fri were pre-fishing days and the fish were biting about normal. Then came Sat morning with a squall line of thunderstorms and north wind. About 5:30 winds picked up to around 20 mph and made the lake a sea of white caps. Fortunately the wind died down about as quick as it came up and teams hit the water. As crappie fisher persons know, any type of weather change affects the bite and Sat was no exception. Fish were where they were Fri but had lock jaw. Baits in front of their nose and they'd swim away. Just not interested. But there is plenty of crappie catching talent on the water and someone always solves the puzzle. Fish were caught all over the lake from Caddo creek arm to the dam. A wide variety of baits worked at times. As usual patience was one key to put fish in the boat. Leader Board DIV I DIV II

It was sure good to be back on the lake! We were a little rusty with our culling but that’s to be expected!!

Lake was not good to me at all. My boat broke down at 0630, 2-3 miles from the launch site. Took 2 1/2 hrs to get back in by trolling motor with a 20 mph blow. Jacky and I had put in lots of hours practicing for this tournament, and never got to drop a jig in the water. I guess there's always next time...………..

It was good to see old friends and catch a few fish. I really needed to get away from the house and enjoy a fishing trip. Mission accomplished! Thanks to our CAT Board of Directors for a job well done! It takes dedicated volunteers to make these things happen.

I was wondering how you managed to not weigh any fish, seen you fish too many times to believe there wasn't a good reason. Better luck going forward. On another note weights seemed to be pretty decent!
