Burbarry's post reminded me of a question I've had for a while now. Why would one of the major boat manufacturers not get in bed with Yeti, Grizzly, etc. and have them design a cooler for their boats that actually kept ice from melting so badly, and that would keep drinks cold all day? I've never heard of a boat cooler that did a great job of insulation. Seems like a natural other than the cost to design the cooler, but with the exposure the product would receive seems it would be more of an investment. Shoot, add a logo to the step above the cooler, include their brand in advertising for the boat company, etc. Not to start the bashing side, but I know my Skeeter isn't terrible about blowing thru ice, but it also isn't nearly a Yeti or Grizzly.

That would be great. As much as boats cost these days having a legit cooler not too much to ask.

Has anyone ask which brand of boat has the best cooler?? I know when Bumble Bee was in business they went to extremes to insulate their cooler with 4 inches of foam all the way around and the lid had 2 inches with the recessed lip all the way around. Haven't seen another one sense.

No need for Yeti or any other manufacture to help design a cooler. Really all they need to do is put spray foam around the cooler when the top cap is made and install an insulated lid.

I dont understand why any one uses their built in cooler at all. My only thought after reading many posts on here about corona etc, is that most of you stop and get stuff at a gas station every trip and put it in your boat?
I fill my cooler at my house and carry it in my boat or truck then boat, I use a ice block and if its over 90 Ill add a tray of ice cubes.
I do my shopping once a week and get gas at gas stations not provisions for each day.

Are Ranger coolers any better since the hull is full of foam? Mine in my old boat is terrible, just a fiberglass box with a drain basically. You wonder if someone could make an insert for current boat coolers that did't use up too much volume...
See you on the lake and have a great day!

Because it's a dedicated space in your boat for it. Why not use it? An extra cooler just gets in the way.

An extra cooler just gets in the way. an extra cooler doesnt get in MY way my rear deck is damn near 60 inches deep and Im not on it, I have a bungee around my passenger seat and my cooler sits behind that seat. When I have draw partner in tourneys they used my yeti back there as a table due to the way the top has a lip around it. The built in cooler is where I have a cut down garbage can and put my garbage. Like I said I fill my cooler at home. How do you carry your stuff from your house to your boat cooler? You uncover your boat to fill it then re cover? Seems like a pain to me and like we all already know your stuff doesnt stay as cold in there.....

If boat manufacturers would just put a little more thought into it they could insulate the coolers to where they would work better. Like you said the space is already designated so make it better. I'm not bringing an extra cooler in my boat when one is built in the boat.

fyi a white towel over my cooler on the back deck will let ice last in it all day in 100 degree weather. I do wish they made the zip flip lid coolers in white.

I carry a yeti 20 in my boat. Doesn't take up much room. To hell with boat coolers.
I can backlash toilet paper.

It would have to be like a hard yeti with big rubber stretch handles and a seal all the way around and people would complain about those.

a yeti hard cooler is not just spray foam around a hole in the boat it is a sealed outer layer, then foam then inner layer, and a compression seal on top... it would have to be built that way to work well.
everyone knows the hard coolers without the rubber compression seal and rubber handles dont work as well, ie aluminum coleman etc.
