Anyone fished Fort Phantom Hill lately? Will be fishing for LMB

Any advise would be greatly appreciated not looking for spots just what they might be biting, shallow or deep?

Someone who knows the lake much better than me may chime in but I don’t think there is really a deep bite on that lake. I’d assume docks and reeds right now.

Went this last weekend to Abilene and fished Lake Fort Phantom Hill. Arrived at the boat ramp at 530 am before sunrise to find probably the best boat ramp in Texas. This ramp was like 80 feet wide and could hold nearly 15 boats at a time. Also had courtesy dock with a walk way that 10 boats could tie up to. After getting the boat ready to launch found a few fisherman to chat with about the lake since it was our first time there. These fisherman was part of a Bass Club from New Mexico that traveled to fish this lake due to the lakes in their area. That was a shocker to me that they would travel that far to fish this lake that I couldn't get any information on for 2 weeks. I did a lot of studying on the graphs and maps and found a few good places to fish I thought on the lake. Had a good plan of attack this lake but as it would have it the wind was a major factor. The lake runs north and south with very few coves off of the main lake. The wind was out of the south at 10 to 15 early in the morning and by 1100 it was 25 to 30 with gust to 35. We only got to fish about a quarter of the lake but it was a good day for never fishing the lake. Me and my father-in-law ended up with 7 in the boat. Biggest one being 4lbs and the rest ranging from 2.5 to 3.5. Pretty decent lake if the wind is not too high. If it is hang on because the swells get 4 to 5 feet with ease. A lot of boats out looking for hybrids and not a lot fishing for LMB. This lake has very few timbers, some pads and a lot of docks. Great first experience with this lake and hopefully better trips in the future.

The best time to fish that lake to stay out of the wind is fall through early spring (basically when there are active cold fronts). Once the prevailing wind sets up out of the south it blows hard and all of the time. When I lived there we had several summers where we would go 30 days straight with winds 20-30 mph out of the south.

This time of the year they are either in the reeds/stick ups or on the docks.
