Can anyone give me a educated answer to how long it takes to actually bait a hole with range cubes, do you drop it and come back the next day or just drop it and fish over it right away with good results??

We bait holes a couple of days before we have clients fish with us. If you are in the right depth of water, a lot of times you will start catching fish relatively quick. If you aren’t , it may take a day or two. I do know that if you keep a hole baited often, fish will be there year round.

Im trying it at Lake Pat right now. I have been baiting an area with cottonseed cake for a week. No luck yet. In a few spots from 8' to 18'. Hopefully it will start gettin good. But, not yet.

If you have been baiting for a week with no luck it might be time to look for another spot.
You should have seen some results in at least a couple of days.
If you can bait more than one spot is the way to locate where the fish prefer to be. Sometimes baiting and they will come doesn't always work according to plan.

I baited a spot in 25ft at Fork. I was marking fish on the bottom as I pulled up. Left the range cubes for about an hour. Got back and there were more marks on the graph and the bite was fast. Bait would hit bottom and get bit in less than 10 seconds.

Did you put the cubes in anything or just through them out in area?

I fish the rocks using Danny King's and a cork. I bought a bag of the 20% cubes and have been playing around with them this past week. Fish seem to start coming in about 20 minutes after throwing out the first cubes. I put out about a gallon while fishing. After a couple hours the fish I caught were full of the cubes. The time I went back to the same place the following day, my first couple fish were full but there were only 5-6 of them. I just started back catfishing last week, but have caught 31 so far using the cubes off and on.

If the fish aren't there, is doesn't seem to make them appear, but if they are in the area, it seems to stack them up and get them active. I had a 7 yr old boy (fishing with his dad) reel in 16 for me Saturday. Seeing his face reeling them little suckers in was a blast. I think the cubes are gonna be part of my arsenal this year.

My approach is different. I get to the lake around 530 and run and bait several areas ranging from rocky shoreline to some summer mudflats with stickups. Lately I've been baiting 5-7 areas since some areas have been hit or miss. Pour range cubes and milo into a 2 gallon bucket and pour it out in key areas 4-7fow. If the fish are in the area you should be pulling channel catfish in within 30 minutes in my opinion and all the chum is doing is simply concentrating the fish not drawing them in from nowhere. If they aren't there in that area you may be able to pull them in with repeated chumming for several days but I don't try that approach. Ive started to use milo and deer corn more and more, especially if I am done for the day and have clients the next day. I feel like the milo and corn sit there until they get eaten versus the range cubes likely turn to powder in minutes to hours. Therefore I believe milo and deer corn is better for longer term chumming. I run and gun. I catch anywhere from a half dozen to several dozen fish from each spot, once fishing dies down I run to my next spot and if its a great trip I may only fish one or two of my spots.

Range cubes can be great for concentrating catfish. However, carp and buffalo really like them and if you chum in a lake with large concentrations of carp and buffalo they can take over the baited area. You can test this by using range cubes as bait in your cube chummed area. It is also a great technique to catch some really big catfish once they get used to eating the cubes.

I do range cubes and sour grain chum. I have noticed that the cubes do better in a flooded place where their may be a lot of under brush and the sour grain on a hard clean bottom . Also a mesh laundry bag makes a great chum bag.

I noticed this past wheekend that if you leave them in the back of the truck and it rains, you get a bag-o-[censored]...lol

I also noticed that this week. LOL I had a 5 gallon bucket in my boat that got wet and a bag in the back of my truck. Going to throw it all out tomorrow in burlap sacks and see what it does.
