Smallmouth in Lewi?

Was fishing the bank yesterday on lake Lewisville and Caught a smallmouth. Been fishing the lake for years and know they aren’t supposed to be in there. any thoughts as to how he got in there?

Probably washed in from Ray Roberts. Transplants from Texoma...

Looks like a non-stop swimmer from Texoma as skinny it is. I've never seen a SM in Lewisville. Could be a transplant from GVine.

Interesting post. I caught my first smallmouth or meanmouth from Lewisville about a month ago.

First thought is he is dead now. Already stressed and skinny....after laying on that rock he no has no slime coat on his left side. RIP

Fish was biting my finger as I was releasing and it was on that rock for a second to take a pic. It was released and took off fast

Since the Okies have been trying to claim both banks of the Red, we’ve been stocking Lew with their Murray and Eufaula smallmouth.

I believe so too. Just interesting that they can find their way there and seem to be surviving, when TPWD doesn’t feel that stocking those lakes with smallmouth is viable.
