I have the Humminbird Helix 9 at my console and am having an issue with my screen shots. I have the screen shot with waypoint turned to OFF. I can view my screen shots on the Helix but when I pull my microSD card out and put it in my computer, all I see on the SD card is ENCRYPT.TXT and PROFILE.TXT but no images. I'm using a SanDIsk Ultra 16GB A1 micro SD card. I have it in the right side slot and the Lake Master card in the left side slot. I've looked but can't find any information on how to load the screen shot images onto the card. I thought they would save automatically. I had the SD card in the Helix when I took the screen shots. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

The unit creates a SNAPHOT folder on the memory card to put the snapshots in. If you don't have that folder, then it is probably on the map card if the Helix 9 is the G3N since you cannot lock a microSD card.

I can see the snapshots on the Helix but there is not the folder on the SD card when I put it in my Mac. Is there a way to tell the Helix to place the Snapshots on the SD card instead of the Lake Master card?

Make sure the lakemaster card is locked. That way the unit only has one choice to put data on

Ok, I'll check that the LakeMaster card. But if I lock that, then will it not let me add waypoints and routes to the lake maps?

Nav data is not stored on the map card. All nav data is stored to the units memory then the unit will display the nav data on map screen. Map cards contain maps and nothing else, unless you saved some screen shots on accident

44 Diesel, That makes sense but I don't know how it would have saved the images to the map card. I had a blank SD card (16GB) loaded and it's formatted to the correct format (FAT32). If there is a way to tell the unit which card slot to save images to I haven't found it. I appreciate your help!

Most likely the unit detected two cards that it could write data to. And it just happened to write it on the lakemaster card. There is no setting that allows you to pick and choose which card slot does what function. The unit decides that part on its own. If you lock the map card and put in the sd card it will write to the sd card. If you were to put 2 blank sd cards in the unit you will not know which card the data is written till after you pull one card out and see

@ 44 Diesel; I will try that. I talked to Slade D. who tuned my units in and he said that I didn't need to lock the LM card. He also said that my Mac wouldn't read the card as Humminbird is incompatible with Apple. But I plugged my SD card into a PC and it didn't work there either. All I see are two things on the SD card and they are ENCRYPT.TXT and PROFILE.TXT.

Correct about the MAC, not very compatible with the birds. If you can put your lakemaster card into a PC and see if your screenshots are on it. You can also while on the trailer , take out the lakemaster card, put in only the sd card and take a screen shot and see if it saves it. The solix units store screen shots in it's memory so locking the map card is not as important with them. With the Helix you will need to lock the map card

Yes Helix units have PNG picture files just like the units they replaced=number series.

The Helix 5's and Helix 7's have a single microSD reader so if a map card is used, that gets the SNAPHOT folder.
The third generation Helix 8 and 9 have dual microSD readers.

@ 44 Diesel; I talked to Humminbird support on the phone today and they said the exact same thing as you did. I will lock the lakemaster card.

I found my missing SNAPSHOTS. They were saved to my Lake Master card. I'm not sure if the unit defaults to saving SNAPSHOTS to the left card slot (where I have my Lake Master card installed) or some other reason. But I did find the SNAPSHOTS and loaded them onto my MacBook.
