Hey, do you fellas prefer long rods or short rods for bream? By long I mean anything over 8 feet. Short anything less than 8 feet.

Anyone use one of those dock shooters or super short rods? Seems like they would be great around over hanging branches and such.
I go to Walmart and have been tempted to pick one up!

Just one more cast!

Other than the cane poles of old, I remember the 5- 51/2's.
A liile off subject thread is, I am amazed at the size poles of folks ice fishing use in relation to the size of the fish they pull up.🐟

Do not target the sunfish. I have always used long rods. White Bass, Striped Bass, crappie, LMB, catfish, and Fresh Water Reds.

I use 4.5 ft shorties for overgrown creek banks, and a 5 ft ugly stick for ponds, rivers, and lakes. Only problem I have with ultra light equipment is when I accidentally hook one of those 20 inch plus ditch pickles with no room to play it. scared

I've gravitated to 6'6" to 7'3" rods across the board for all fishing. Like the extra casting distance over shorty rods.

Most of my rods are 6’ or 6’6” ugly sticks. I have used 9 foot fly rods with worms to drop worms in bush after sunfish.
