So the SE Texas BASS Nation fished Belton on Saturday. Fishing was tough. in a field of close to 90 anglers, 44 blanked, including me. 11 lbs took first place. Big bass was a shade under 6 lbs. The googans took over the lake by 11:00 or so. I was fishing at the dam and got run off by a wake boat that came within 50 yards of me 3 times and only stayed off the rocks because I heard the aholes coming...... I fished hard until 2 and nada.....one bite at the dam and got zebra musseled. The wind picked up and the lake traffic by noon made all main lake fishing impossible. there was a five fish limit weighed that totalled a shade more than 7 lbs. anyway, a number of guys ended up heat affected and got off the lake early. I drank 8 bottles of water and 1 bottle of topo chico and never broke a sweat and only had to hit the head one time......anyway, anyone on the water needs to drink a ton of water and hydrate the night before just to be safe.
tight lines.

I was out there as well on Saturday, though not in the tourney. I was prepping my boat to launch when you guys all took off from Temple Park. Saw 3 or 4 boats take a left and head straight out to the main lake and then I swear it wasnt 5 minutes later and they all came running back by the ramp heading north, weird. I tried to stay a little further up north myself where the pleasure boats dont spend much time. Still got ran off by 10:30 or so. Those wake boats make for an interesting run back to the ramp. I will also have to give a +1 to the hydration statement.

Actually 9.47 won...
Fishing was extremely tough, I was the angler that weighed in 5 for 7.02lbs and it took all day to do that! I think I caught 10 fish all day and I didn't cull once. First two were keepers and last three.
Boat traffic everywhere you go right now is crazy.

It's like that on almost every central Texas lake right now, except maybe Buc, because it's so out in the middle of nowhere. I don't even bother fishing on the weekends

My days are much shorter because of the traffic. I'm on the water as soon as the gates open and headed home by 10:00.
Sneaking out during the week is a rare treat but may become more necessary.

Get some electrolyte packets from Amazon or vitamin shoppe. Only way to go. I drink one the night before if I'm working outside pretty hard the next day and another during the day. During tournaments we always drink one early about 5am then water and coconut water the rest of the day. Also use the cool bandanas which you keep in the cooler. Makes a huge difference at the end of the day

tight lines. Ya know you're getting dehydrated when you drink a gallon of water and your pee at the end of the day comes out looking like a jello shot! Welcome to summertime fishing in Texas! It's hot out there! Good advice Jarrett! If you wait til you're thirsty to drink, you're already getting dehydrated. One bottle at least every hour.
