I saw pictures of them this morning. It looks like MinnKota pretty much copied a PowerPole nut for nut, part for part?!!! I thought that PowerPole would have had some kind of patent, but I guess not.

PP patent ran out about a year ago....according to the rumor mill.

No harm in making good things better and more profitable.

Minn Kota touted how much better Talons are over Power Poles and now they copy them. Not sure what to think of that and I own a set of Talons.

Pretty sure everyone has known that power poles are better than talons for a while.

I think they are trying to corner the market...Either you like the talons or the raptor. Either way MinnKota can offer you both styles.

If you think power poles are better than talons it's cause your too hard headed to try talons, or power pole is paying you.

Talons are quieter, deeper, don't require hydrolics and don't get in the way nearly as much

I guess some ppl just like that style better and now Minn kotta offering both

I'll stick to talons

You forgot that you won't get to brag about their customer service because with the talon you won't have use it. LOL

I have had Talons on two different boats. All have been trouble-free. I like them because they don't get in the way.

maybe they figured out how to run 2 poles with one pump that would make it better from the get go.

They might not be as pretty as PP but you don't see ten post a month about people needing customer service. We have fun counting how many guys have zipties holding their PP's up at every tournament.

I hate photobucket.

While Power Poles offering will retain #1 share at BCB and we will focus on that product as our main pole offering. JL Marine is a good company with a strong foot hold in the market. We remain extremely interested in the coming of their trolling motor this July. We do have a depth of knowledge on that product as well as the belief it will be a premium market product. It also will likely be the most expensive similar product in the market as things heat up in the Pole Anchors and GPS Trolling Motor war.

One must recognize that Johnson Outdoors, MinnKota with Talon, has acquired significant market share as a vertical anchoring system. The newer design definitely has a following and the product will retain prime position in MinnKota product guides and promotion. Many like the various depth ranges and our main opposition is the bulky universal bracket. The ability to tilt it for clearance is a positive also. We have not been a fan of that product due to the mounting system.

Minn Kota is releasing a new product this month named Raptor. It is a hydraulic pole system with active anchoring for constant contact with the bottom and has been in development for over three years. The product inspired over a million dollars in a test fixture to insure that the durability is above standards other products have. The new systems are in operation and you should see them in the market within days. We do have the original Raptor products in house also.

Minn Kota had a lock on GPS bow trolling motors, Power Pole had a lock on anchoring systems. Now consumers can choose from three different anchoring poles and five (5) different conventional bow mount GPS trolling motors. We think all have an edge is some fashion, parts of MotorGuides design makes a lot of sense for some.

You as buyers will make the decisions.
