When you are headed out of town for a fishing trip, tournament or otherwise, what do you value the most when looking for a place to stay? I understand that a place with all of the choices would be the ideal place. But what do you look for first???
Feel free to comment with details about your choice.

based on the choices I say security. If the wife is coming with she would make me find a place with all of the high end things. Pools, restaurants, boat security, nice outdoor view, ect..

Based on these choices boat security. But my real first choice would be PROXIMITY TO WATER ACCESS

Boat security by far, as it's the most logical. If I no longer have all the parts in a usable condition and assemblage, I'm not going to be able to do much fishing.

Most places on the water have good security. Hotel motels have the worst. I'm always afraid to leave the boat in yhe parking lot. Never had anything stolen yet though.

I am always worried about boat security. This year I finally pulled the trigger on a smaller truck camper that slides in the bed of my truck. This has been a game changer. I do not have to wake up early and drive 2 hours to the lake any more. I drive to the ramp or a campground close by the night before and am still able to get a good nights sleep. I am also able to take the family for a weekend getaway and still take the boat.

Cost is my first concern. All others are considered after that. Sometimes you don't have choices.

I look for a place that is set up for fishermen rather than just a plain old motel. Bigger parking lot, outside plugs, outside trash cans, outside chairs or benches, etc.

Too hard to answer that question. A little bit of everything, but a clean and well kept motel room (emphasis on clean) is probably the highest on my list. Doesn't have to be fancy as long as it's clean and doesn't have any funny smells.
Easy parking for the boat really helps. Can't stay anywhere if there isn't parking for the boat.
Not too far from the lake or the preferred ramp. 15-20 mins away is about as far as I really want to drive. 10-15 mins is even better.

Boat Security.. In that category I include adequate parking space for my boat and ease of use of the parking lot. I try to avoid tight parking lots where someone can hit my boat with their trailer and not leave a note. If I am staying more than a single night, access to power is pretty high on my list.

Lowest price.. Never had a problem with anyone messing with the boat. All my rods and anything valueable ride in the truck anyway.. Unless they can get a jack to un latch a 225 Optimax and put it in their vehicle, there ain't much for them to take. Lowest price, but clean is my idea.
One thing you should have added is power availability to plug in my TM batteries. Big deal for me
To be honest though.. I'm still young enough that if I can find a park on the lake that charges $20 a night to pitch a tent with electricity and water, I do that. Air mattress, a nice cool night, fire, yes sir...

#1 is staying at a lake with excellent fishing. I'm not interested in just being on the water, I want to catch fish. Next would be ease of parking and a convenient place to plug in and charge batteries. Price has to be in there somewhere because I'm not independently wealthy, but I'm also not a cheapskate.

I don't really care about amenities, but the rest are pretty important. I need a clean place that's close to the ramp but also near a place to get breakfast and ice.
If the trip is more than 1 night, gotta have convenient power outlets outside near the boat.
