I knew that I should not go out on the weekend at JP but my kids wanted to fish. The last two times I have been there, I have had problems with un-informed people at the boat ramps. Time before, kids swimming at the boat launch that would not get out of the way for boats arriving and leaving. This time people using the boat launch as there private dock, as about a dozen boats are arriving and leaving at the same time. Is this the new norm with so many people at the lake and parks. Will not go back again on a weekend.

Just think these are the ones that are multiplying. Yes this is probably the new normal. I have seen it everytime I go and that isn't enough.

I get very frustrated when people are setup fishing at the ramp courtesy docks. I just drive my boat and tie up as if no one is there. most people get their stuff outta the way when i dock. I've also scolded some one to get their kids away from swimming on the ramp before they get killed. these people are so frustrating. I avoid weekends around DFW area lakes.

I am using Cedar Hill State park. I think they only have one launch open at this time making it even worse. I did talk to a TPW officer to see if he could help them out. They need some signage out there saying no swimming and please enter and exit quickly for the courtesy of others wanting to use the launch.

It’s not just Joe Pool, I’ve seen it at Lewisville, Ray Roberts, and many more. People swimming and fishing where people are trying to launch or load up their boats, people sunbathing on the courtesy docks, you name it. Even at a boat ramp on a different lake I go to, they don’t have a dock but they have a small beach areajust big enough for one or two boats to fit located directly next to the ramp which is about the only place you can pull your boat up to to load/unload gear and passengers and park while you get your truck and idiots insist on chilling there in lawn chairs and swimming with all their kids so you have no room for your boat.

There must really be a severe lack of public beaches and swimming areas where these fools can go and do this type of stuff that makes them hog all the boat launches.

Only real solution is if the TPWD puts up signs banning swimming, fishing, and all other recreation use except launching and loading boats at the ramps and they actively have to enforce it.

I almost ran over a kayak in the boat ramp at Lake Bastrop. The guy had left it to go to the restroom or whatever. The thing about Bastrop is that it has a kayak launch area but I guess it is inconvenient. They finally put some signs out but nobody reads them. People still fish in the boat ramp area and off of the courtesy docks.

Be safe,
