Bird netting may work if you make a false ceiling spanning the entire area so they can't fly up there . If it's just in certain areas you run the risk of trapping birds , snakes , etc.

The best way (IME) is to keep knocking down the nests before they lay eggs .


that is the plan , the nesting phase is over for this year , hopefully , babies are gone. will they nest again this Year ?
they are still roosting over the boat.

Not sure when bridge swallows migrate but I wouldn't take any chances . If they're still hanging around the nests there's always the possibility of another clutch . Purple Martins and barn swallows will occasionally fledge two sets of chicks . We still have a lot of summer left .

Two years ago I smeared Vaseline on the beams where the birds built their nests. Haven't had a nest since. Slips on both sides of mine have nests.

Buy a pack of cheap blank cd/dvds and hang them up.
