Shame on whatever bass club had their weigh in at Ally creek on Lake O the Pines this Sunday. I fully support every bodies right to catch fish but the dozen or so dead fish floating at the ramp was awful to see. Were y'all just too lazy to clean them? There was a line of men pitching dead fish out at the ramp. With a south wind, I bet the smell at the ramp is nice today as they would not have floated out into the lake.
It sure makes your sport less appealing to the folks camping and putting in their boats for other water sports.

If I weigh a dead one I always go ask around the ramp to see if anybody wants to take one home to eat. Usually there's someone fishing who will gladly take it off your hands. If not, I'll take it home with me and either filet it myself or give it to a friend/neighbor who likes to eat fish. Hate to kill a fish and then waste it.

If we just outlawed tournament fishing it would pretty much take care of this issue. Black Bass Lives Matter.

All Fish Lives Matter

There was a TD director who got ticketed a couple of years ago for throwing dead fish into a trash can.

Ultimate High School Fishing was at Pines but their weigh in was off site on the North End not by Alley. Plus he said line of men throwing the dead fish back.

So you were there and saw it happening....did you say anything then?

Or did you save your manhood for the keyboard?

You could have even offered to take them off their hands.

Hotter weather and older boats always has a percentage of mortality attached. Most anglers in my experience do not normally take them home to eat. As for dumping the dead fish, probably no more than a half dozen to a dozen, doesn't hurt the sport. Your views a bit skewed as a Crappie Guides view, Everything you catch you eat if its legal.!just saying no club and ive been in several sets out to kill their fish, but dumping them in the water in my opinion is the best thing for it. Normally the turtles take care of most of them and the others just decay and go back to the earth recycled. Not to mention Catfish will thank you later.

So breaking the law is the best thing?

Perhaps you are right. I had a group with me and really didn’t do anything other than say “shame on you guys”.
I suppose if I had been a real man like you I would have leaped out of my boat and beat them all up.
Sorry I dont measure up....... but I did clean all the fish my customers caught so there is that

Lmao straight to beating them up...really. um let's see you could have done a few things. 1. Take the fish from them so they weren't waisted, 2. Make sure they know they were breaking the law and 3. Call the GW because that is against the law and flat out horrible to do.

Either way doing nothing but then getting on here and making this post doesn't do any good. I'd bet 99% of the guys oj here would never do that. Obviously I could be wrong though.

Buff....I would not get in a fight over some dead fish.

Talk to them...take them to add to your clients meat.

Talk to them and if they don’t take care of it...call the game warden

While most bass fishermen (other than the LA bunch) release most or all of the bass they catch, including tournament fishermen, remember this:

Every one of those anglers could KEEP and KILL every fish they brought in that day (unless they transfer possession to a tournament director who's releasing them). If every bass fisherman started doing what a lot of other species fishermen do on a regular basis, THEN you would see a decline in bass population the likes of which we've never experienced. So, while some are sloppy, the vast majority are willingly giving the resource back to the lake to survive for another day. All those bass fishermen can go fishing even if there were no tournaments, and they would be free to keep the limit every single day they did so. Many benefit from this cooperative effort.
