For guys who are looking to invest their money into a rod, don’t choose Abu Garcia rods. I’ve had two eyelets break off recently during a tournament.

And before the Abu Garcia bitch boys come on this forum to tell me I’m wrong, prove it. That [censored] is the bottom of the dollar cheap [censored]. That garbage is produced it China.

Abu Garcia is coming out with a rod that connects with your phone via bluetooth, and you can press a button on the rod to save a waypont where you casted, the weather conditions, tides, etc...

So you bought a ROD that was sold by a company that built their reputation on REELS? And when this rod proved unsatisfactory you were surprised?

Buy a rod from a manufacturer that has a reputation for selling good RODS.

This is kind of an ignorant statement. If a company puts out a product, it should be satisfactory to it's price irrelevant to what they "mainly" manufacture. If you are spending your hard earned money on something it does not perform to again, price paid, then yes, you do have the option to be upset.

Not sure if you know this, but not all companies only manufacture, one and only one, product. It's rare to see a company these day's that can survive that way. You must branch out and grow your company.

Not saying these rod's aren't garbage, but geez, the guy is allowed to vent.

For me I accept that any company will have problems from time to time. It's how a company responds during these times that makes the difference.

I have been trying to reach Abu customer service for a week regarding a warranty repair. I have received the canned response "unprecedented times" as the the reason for delay. Although I understand the challenges many businesses have gone through the past few months, the time it took to respond with an "excuse" could have easily managed the response to the warranty claim. A week under any circumstances is unacceptable to me!

AG rods have been underwhelming, to say the least, since they came out. Imo. I'm not a big fan of the Revo either. I haven't tried the newer ones though. About the only thing I use AG for is Striper fishing with live bait, C3 & C4 models.

It happens. I have been reading about Dobyn's rods failing here lately it seems, so they all will have their moments I guess. I have 6 Veritas rods I take to Mexico and they have held up very well. Not an advocate for Abu, just my experience.

No ..... The statement wasn't ignorant. Nor am I. I've been involved in the industry for a lot of my 65 years and know how it works. I've worked as a buyer and as a seller. Both wholesale and retail.

Abu Garcia is like 90% of the industry companies in that they farm out products that they have no desire to make in house. And they likely award contracts to the lowest bidder.

They made their reputation over the years by making reels. They have never been and will likely never be a big player in the rod business.

Based upon your statement and opinion anyone and everyone who manufactures a product line should have the same quality across their entire product line.

Not many companies offer entire lineups of products that are of the same quality as their "Flag Ship" product. Sorry ... but that's just the way it is. If there's ignorance to be seen here it's because people fail to realize that a brand name doesn't necessarily mean top tier quality anymore.

I kind of sort of agree, however before you bash look around and ask around. Imo the duckett ghosts which are sort of in the same price line have an issue with their guides also. Ive seen guides poo on Loomis EX6s and have ahd to replace 6 total guides between the two G Loomi IMX models I own. 3 and 3 no tips. Its how their used, i see guys chick their rods down and smack them on the sides of the boater step on them then pick it up and start fishing then They notice an eyes cracked or an inserts popped etc... Its worse if your a Co, your rods get the snot beat out of them all the time. My two cents.

Are you talking about veritas or Walmart vengeance rods? I had a guide Insert crack on a Veritas but I typically read much more comments about the rod actions on the Veritas vs complaining about the guides.

Do a search about duckett guides.... same story.

Stick to a brand that uses Fiji guides and you should be fine if you don’t totally abuse your equipment...

This is awesome! I’ve never tried their rods, but I think I feel the same way about their reels as you do about their rods. Lol.
