So i have been lucky enough to be able to fish quite a bit latley with a lot of sucess. So for those looking to land the big cats this is what ive been doing. First ive been fishing in water anywhere from 6 ft to 1 ft deep, not in trees but on the edges. Ive been using shad for bait as i almost always do. Some pcs as small as a quarter to full hand size pcs. Dont be afraid of using big baits. I have not been drifting but i have been fishing an area for a little bit then moving and repeat. Good luck to those chasing the biguns there are plenty biting right now if you pick the right spots.

One of these days, I need to dip my toe and try to chase some big cats.
Your pictures always make me a little jealous. LOL.
Perhaps one day you can show me the ropes on big cats and I can try to give your son some pointers on LMB....

They are a good time. I have been fishing for other stuff a little latley also. Im new to crappie, sandies and not very experinced with striper. My son is responsible for expanding my target species. This comming weekend we are gonna hit texoma and get some striper. He is using that to train for going offshore in his own boat this summer, i made it a rule he had to be able to paddle 15 miles at my pace continous. I know he can do it but to keep him respectfull of the risk i make it sound hard because it can get hard and a responsible kayaker prepaires for the worst of situations prior to the event they need it and dont know it.

Good work dad! I call that "bending the needle back"... over correcting and/or over-preparing.
I am doing this a lot with my 20-year-old college student. Its amazing how much life he has figured out at 20. LOL.
