I would like to spend a couple days catching Bluegills with my wife. She loves fishing but as we are getting older, a day trip from Austin is becoming difficult. I noticed that Oak Thicket Park has some cabins. Can any of you guys recommend them? Thank you very much. Larry

They are very nice. Not sure what the rates are now. The park is under new management so things are subject to change.

I have never stayed in the cabins, but have heard they are not bad. Probably not air conditioned, so if a/c is needed a motel in La Grange is your best bet.

I've stayed in the cabins several times over the years during June so outside temperatures were quite warm. The A/C kept the room cool. The beds aren't the most comfortable but are sufficent and the rooms are clean.

Thank you very much for the replies. I would love to stay at the lake cabins, but if I cannot get a reservation, will check out the motels.

I've stayed at the River Valley Motor Inn in La Grange. I like it because it has space for parallel parking boats by your room !

We stayed at the Oat Thicket Park cabins on July 6. No problem, they were very nice. The one we rented had two beds and a bathroom. Clean, comfortable beds, large very clean bathroom, microwave and frig.
Porch facing the lake, firepit, grill and table. We will return for a longer stay..
