Repowering boat with new 4 stroke. Data plate rating says any v-6 and new motor is v-8 and was wondering how to go about updating. Same hp and weight between both motors. Any suggestions?

Don't have any suggestions, but curious, are you going with a new Mercury? Been thinking of doing the same.

just get a new plate with the same weight rating but 300 hp instead.

must be a champion 202 or similar, I have the same problem but can't afford to buy new.

I am repowering a 206. Just waiting for the motor to arrive and wanted to be ahead of the curve.

if you fish tournaments you can also just request a waiver since you are not violating any hp ratings.

new plate would be best though.
