You can always run down and use another boat. And red snapper season is open now.

I hear ya... money I spend going fishing is money I can spend getting this boat back on the water, so.. focusing on that right now I have more parts arriving this week, so should have her ready soon! I will, however, need to look into a possible re-power or rebuild in the next year or so. Currently have a 2003 Yamaha F225 4-stroke and a 2004 of the same on the back. I am TOLD by a guy that just put brand new Suzuki 200's on his GW 265, a much heavier boat, that 200's would run this boat all day and night and at that price, may be worth considering, albeit for like 4k more, I can use 250's I think.. but, looking at the numbers, the 250s would not get as good of gas mileage so... and the 225s are too dang heavy, would add like 46lbs more weight... vs the 200s would take like 108lbs off the boat.... and cost like $4k less. Yamahas are nice, but I do not think 20k each is worth the cost in comparison, no offense to Yamaha folks. Anyways, I digress. Back to fishing R

Quick reality If 200’s push it 40 mph and 250’s push it 50, your fuel use is way lower running the 250 at 40.

Well, I understand your point, just not sure why the specs on Yamaha's site show it with less overall gas mileage at say... 4000rpm-5000rpm. But, my assumption would be it is pushing it faster so, it works out. When I get to the point of actually repowering, I will look closer at real numbers. I want to compare all the models and hp from 200 to 250. I think it is a shame Suzuki does not have a light weight version of their engines over 200.... at least I have not been able to locate one. The 200s are at an amazing price compared to Yamaha. That being said, I have always been a Merc guy, but hear the Verados are not good in the saltwater. Again, not seriously looking atm, so no idea.
Either way, not close to repower yet so, just speculating atm. Back to the fish.. lol.
Trying to get the boat working this coming weekend (was waiting for parts to arrive this weekend).. if I get that going, then my happy butt is heading to the coast next month for sure. Otherwise, I need to find a way to get out there with my son and do some fishing even if it just Packery...heh.
