Went to RC yesterday (6/11), almost did not go thinking with the high North winds Wesenday and then East winds Thursday that fishing may not be good. But I went telling myself that I can not catch any fish at home so I went. Turned out to be a pretty good day after all, I found the sand bass schooling at the 309 flats. They were good sized ones 11-12 inches plenty of meat on them, and not small sandy with them. They were up schooling for about a half hour then stopped. Went to Fergusion point, nothing, headed over to Pelican Island nothing, then headed for Wind Sock nothing! Now I troll when i can not find anything so back to Fergusion point nothing trolling. So I headed for the dam saw a phontoon boat was on my way to see if he was doing anything. Never got there as they started schooling just south of the spill way. They were small but a lot of fun catching then found the bigger sand bass just under them. I have not seen top water action like this for some time on RC nor the quality of fish and to think I almost did not go. I was throwing a chrome rattle trap, they were hitting it so hard that they knocked off the front trebble hook.
