Would you guys share your easiest technique with this brainchild as to how, when to toss, and which screens you use to mark brush piles etc. I’ve got a Helix 7.

I use side image to find brush. When it shows up i use the cursor to mark the pile then ease up with the trolling motor to the way point and toss the marker off to the up wind side of brush. This puts me on the downwind so i will not drift over the pile.
I would agree with you , but then we would both be WRONG !!!!!

Just toss it upwind from whatever structure you are fishing. The important thing is to figure out where you're structure is in relation to the marker. Upwind is important so you can keep your boat positioned facing the wind.

Also a great idea to have more than one marker so you can get dialed in when you put the 1st in the wrong spot.....

Snowman, If I was you, I would have the Bandit go put out all the marker Buoys, and then you and Fred can come along behind and pick up all the fish from the marked spot. Couldn’t resist.

Also approach the spot from down wind. Slows the boat @ idol speed, allows you to see the pile, and toss the marker on the upwind side with more accuracy. And... depending on the wind & depth, you may need to toss the marker a little further upwind. The marker takes a few seconds to unwind and the wind can push the marker several feet before it hits bottom.

approach waypoint using main motor into the wind to use spotlock. using transom mounted down and side image drive toward waypoint when brushpile shows on screen LAY bouy in water from drivers seat this should put your bouy about 15-20 feet directly upwind from brushpile. circle back using trolling motor and line the boat up at the bouy, using trolling motor traditional sonar you should find your brushpile and be into the wind about 15-20 feet from bouy...adjust as necessary....
