What a hard earned fish this has been. After 5 trips in 4 different spots both lake and pond. 2 mornings of my alarm clock going off at 4:30 AM, over 12 hours of baiting, casting, baiting and casting. 2 mudcats(who I wish a slow and painful death), a near broken knee from sliding down a steep bank, and several hundred dollars in new gear. I finally did it. Not only was the fish very enjoyable to catch, even giving me multiple runs while trying to net him, despite his small size, but i finally got to hear the sound of a screaming bite alarm while teaching a man who had never fished how to rig his new zebco Walmart special with a plastic worm. The fishing gods were smiling on me today, and blessed me with my first carp in 7 years. I can’t imagine it was a coincidence that it happened while sharing the love. I don’t know why I ever stopped fishing for the beasts, nothing else compares to the fight they put up.

I pulled this one out of Chisholm parks pond. Grapevine is a Great Lake for carp and buffs though.

Great job Caribou! It's tough times out there with this heat... I've had rotten luck the past couple weeks. At this time of year I really believe you'll get what you put in - waking up really early, fishing at night, baiting/pre-baiting, etc.
