Spent two days fishing out of my canoe. First day I used my go to beetle spin and had one fish. Switch to a Charlie Brewer crappie slide 1" and caught 6. Returned today and caught 19 on the crappie slider. Always seems that when they don't like the usual this is a bait that will come through.

Less than 5'. If it was shallow enough to see the bottom no fish. All hiding in the slightly darker, deeper water mostly in shade. There were some fallen trees with brush tops stretching into the middle of the creek and some fish under these. They were not just everywhere around the cypress trees but if you saw a swirl or a shad skip there were several fish to be had.

How dirty is the water in there? Clear enough to use a fly rod?

Major Goggle Eye is worth a 2 hour and 45 minute drive to me grin

Seemed that at the Walnut Paddle launch water was fairy clear, not like I'm used to on Rayburn but enough to site cast to small gar lazing in the sun and entice strikes. After a paddle and crossing under the bridge for the park road water was more stained. Not a lot of underwater hangups or weed, just hyacinths and some salvina. Lots of over head stuff though.
