Me and 2 buddies are going to Texoma for first time this weekend. We are going out with a guide on Saturday, but a couple of us had already taken the day off Friday so I have decided to drag my boat over and fish Friday too. Any tips on how to locate stripers? I have been on the lake once but we weren't fishing. Any help would be appreciated. Would also be interested in finding some smallmouth if anybody has the down low on that? Thanks in advance!

My wife and I went this weekend. We got there late and the smallmouth bass were actively feeding in 6” to 6’ of water. Deep rocky points were also good. All were small. Everything shut down about 10 am for us. We did not see any birds feeding so I can’t help with stripers. We put in by the dam.

Lure bite you better be there when it happens or GRIND em out sassy and or slab. Live bait is grand slam also right place right time but early and late best usually. Fish are spread out over the lake because mild winter did not kill off any shad and they are spawning everywhere. Fish are also locating them all over the lake but definitely moving towards deeper end typical early summer pattern.

Thank you for your responses. I am curious, I don't go to Texoma enough to justify buying a splasher prop, but would using the trolling motor on the surface work at all?

You can thrash a rod in the water or bang a stick on the bottom of your boat. Problem is that when you stop, the fish may leave...

I use both splashers and a thumper and if you live anywhere in the south and fish for sandbass, hybrids or Striper, I recommend getting a thumper. I use mine all year round and they work great!
