How are the party boats? I've never done one but I'm thinking about trying one out. I'm just afraid I'll spend half the trip crossing lines with everyone else

The trips are pretty good. I used to do about 4 12hr trips a month. They can get pretty crowded in summer though. If the current is strong you have to watch the other people on the boat to know when to drop your line to not get tangled. If the current is not strong it can be a great trip.

I would not recommend one of the 4 hour trips on the party boats, at least during the busy seasons. They always seem to end up near the jetties. Not on the jetties, but near the jetties. The big boat cannot get very close due to all the other traffic there. They end up anchoring 150 yards out and everyone catches a bunch of catfish and small sharks.
If you do a party boat, book in advance and request a stern seat. They drop the bow anchor and let boat swing over whatever structure they are targeting. The folks on the stern always end up catching the bigger fish.

I booked a trip this morning with Wave Dancer Charters. I've been looking around the last couple days. I saw Michael Littlejohn on here recommended them. Their reviews are excellent. I also booked a party boat trip. My oldest daughter likes the party boats so I'm doing that too.
