Possibly gonna hit Benbrook this July for crappie. And advice on areas to target. What about a good place to launch. I have never fished that lake before and any help would be much appreciated.

Dfd...Benbrook is a corp of engineers lake so there are several parks on the west and south side to gain access and I believe they all have at least one open ramp as of now. But this changes quickly as Benbrook fluctuates greatly in the summer here. There is also a marina on the very far northwest corner where you can launch for $7 a day. The crappie fishing is pretty decent here...there is lots of dead standing timber in the southern, western, and east porions of the lake. The crappie seem to suspend in relation to the timber its about which trees to fish and finding the right depth usually 10-20ish feet. That should give you some good ideas on where to start looking.

caught a good bucket of sandies today, some of the bigger sandies I have seen on Benbrook in a while. 30 was enough for us but we were steadily catching when we left. Caught one good hybrid along with a few smaller ones. They were feeding pretty hard today as most fish caught still had several shad in their mouths and still wanting to eat more. Chartreuse and lime and white prune picker slabs in the 2 oz worked best, nothing with chrome worked. Found em on a hump and a really steep drop, only fished 2 spots. The key today was slinging the slabs as far as you can and work it through the fish horizantaly, they did not want it jigged vertically. I have have never been able to find fish really stacked up on Benbrook like other lakes. This is actually a pretty good size group of fish for Benbrook

Nice ketch. The Mepps technique works as well.

Diesel, nice catch! I hope that the fish will finally start some schooling action soon as that is hard to beat. I like using the mepps technique on other lakes but haven't had success yet on BB that way. Just got a new trolling motor for my G3 so will be off the water for a couple days until we get that guy installed.
