Started the little Nitro yesterday for first time in two years.

Ran fine...I just cannot control the direction it is going. Power steering fluid is out or very low.

Local repair shop says it needs kit...bleed, etc. said about $350 or so. Is that about right??

Do you have a motor with true power steering, or do you mean the boat's hydraulic steering (such as SeaStar Pro)?

I am quessing you talking a seal kit. They are a little over $100. Maybe $150 with fluid + wrench. Not hard to do if you have help.

I bought a bleeder kit online that made it easy to bleed with one person and worked great. It comes with a fill hose/connection and a special hose to connect at the motor end to bleed the air out.

on my boat it was easier with one person at helm to fill and one at motor. Otherwise I woul have been jumping in and out or rigging a bottle up. I am thinking the OP has a leak at the seals.

I agree seals are probably bad, just saying with the bleeder kit you don't need 2 people, just hook up the hose to the 2 bleeders and open them a bit, screw fill hose into the fill port and oil bottle, invert and hold bottle and turn wheel back and forth several times. You can see the air in the clear hose and then just oil....unhook and replace fill cap and close bleeders an remove bleeder hose, works great!

Ok, you were using the steering wheel to move the motor. Not sure why but the instructions that came with my seal kit stated to move motor by hand. I have bled brakes using the tube in jar of fluid method.
