About to head to Lake Conroe this weekend with a few people to warm up our new boat. Wanted some help/advice/locations for really any species, mainly bass and hybrids, also what artificial lures should i use for hybrids and crappie this time of year. Ill be focusing on the lower end of the lake by the dam. Our new boat has a fish finder but it will be my first time using it, just wondering if anyone can maybe mark some spots on the lower end of the lake that i should maybe focus on? Only thing I know right now would be to fish by some deeper docks. Im going to try to find some deep cover, just dont know where to really start.

Start with fishing on a weekday if your schedule allows. Fish after work during the week if you can't go in the mornings. In other words, avoid Saturday/Sunday on Lake Conroe unless you favor an aqua-zoo and being bounced around in rough water. Lake Conroe has very little natural shoreline, and those bulkheads are fantastic wake-reflectors, making it a slosh-fest when you add 10,000 or so "yee-hawww" boats to it on the weekends. The rip-rap at the dam can actually produce some fish at times, just don't go inside the huge "secure, no access police boat" area at the west end.

Okay cool yea i know where that is ive been on the lake before just never fished it. The rip rap is good to fish in the summer time? I figured it would be to hot, and what would you recommend, some squarebills? thanks!

If you don’t have a Map go to Academy and buy one.

There are thousands of brush piles or junk piles. Your electronics can find them by idling a little or just pick a good looking long point from your maps and fish it at the 10-20ft depth. You’ll bump into a few piles on just about all of them.

Hybrids- the damn, and I‘ve seen some decent YouTube videos on them that should give you some spots.

Watch out for yachts and speed boats that have no business on such a small lake. I’m in the minority but I prefer to night fish that lake. It’s peaceful, well lit, and the fish bite better.

Put in at Stowaway Marina, idle up into Lake Paula. Crappie and bass all day up in there. Idle though because there are some sandbars that you can run up on and stumps to hit if you dont know where you're going

If you wanna just run the boat without worries of hitting anything, just stay south of the 1097 bridge.. The lake is all open to run until you get up into creeks

Definitely going to do some night fishing, do you just fish around the dock lights at night?
