1996 Mercury. 225 EFI is overheating (starboard side only) due to not getting enough water. Narrowed it down with help of 2 different cert. mechanics to the gasket on the plate that separates the power head and lower unit....we thought. Turns out the gasket is fine, the plate is very slightly warped, by about 1,000th inch on one side (the side where the gasket is). None being manufactured anymore and a used one could have the same problem. Difficult to find a mill large enough to handle 18x14 plate....So, what are the chances a second gasket, maybe with some silicone in between the 2, could be be added and solve this problem. Mechanics are thinking ‘maybe’ but never tried it before. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.
