Well guys my dad passed away 8 year ago and his Jon boat has been sitting probably 10 years. It has my PawPaw’s old 25 hp Evinrude on it that I fished with him with it pushing us around.. around 50 years ago! I have been reworking it for a few weeks now. Took it to my mechanic. Motor still runs. Carb cleaned, new water pump, lower unit oil, it’s ready. Boat had mice and or rats. Wiring had to be replaced, new batteries, trolling motor plugs. New lowrance 7 graph to make it nice. Took 10 bucks at the car wash to get all the dust and dirt dobbers out before I started. Lol
Well tomorrow morning I’m going to take it out. Lots of memories in tow. Hope it runs good. I’ve done everything I can. Lol [Linked Image]

That is awesome! Nice looking boat, and cool story. That’s great you can continue to make memories with that boat. Thanks for sharing the story and pictures of it.

Thanks guys! First day was a flop. Motor ran but the trolling motor smoked at first try. I’m still looking at it. It works here? Might be the seal leaking and it’s getting water in it? Not sure yet. Been working on other stuff around the house but hope to play with the boat again soon.

Well the trolling motor also had a Dobber nest in the head unit. I got it out and cleaned up the board and it works fine. No smoke! lol I took it out yesterday morning around 9am with only one rod in the boat. Not really fishing just making sure the trolling motor was going to stay working. The water was perfect and the wind was just right. I wore them out on a frog! Biggest was 5 lbs. caught several good chunks! Lots of blow ups that I missed too. It was an awesome day though I was only out for a couple hours. Dad and PawPaw were smiling. LOL I know I will be using this old boat more especially on the days where I wont be out long or I just dont want to drag out the bass boat. Thanks Guys!
