What's up y'all. I'm leaving from Houston Tuesday and I'll be near Bob Sandlin on business this week and thinking about bringing my boat and hitting this lake. Never been and don't know anything about it, but it'll be the closest lake. Can probably spend Tuesday afternoon and all day Thursday there. Is it safe to navigate and any zones of the lake I should focus on? Don't need any waypoints or magic lures just hoping not to spend my time cruising around searching. Thanks

For me docks close to main lake. Its fishing real good if you can skip a swim jig.

if you run the lake, stay in the middle of the lake. the trees come off the points and banks out about 200 yards. If you go west of 21 bridge, you need to be extremely cautious. The trees are near the banks, in the middle, and on points. there are a couple lanes to run in but you really need to know them. You can run all over on the east end of the lake until you go under the railroad bridge. then that's when you need to stay in the middle on pad. I saw people running over forests last time I was out there. I idled over the area just to make sure I'm not losing my mind.. trees are still there according to my side imaging. search this site for a map of Bob Sandlin. there is one with trails marked on it.

No doubt. Tons of new people on the lake from Dallas and other areas that don't know the lake are out there now. Lake was busier this past weekend than I think I've ever seen. I had the discussion with another guy that it seems the quietness of Bob Sandlin is a quick fading memory with all the new housing developments being built on the lake. I'm afraid the boat traffic is going to resemble Cypress Springs within 5 years. Like you said every one of them are running their jet skis, ski boats etc. right through massive forests that are a couple of feet under the water. I've tried stopping people and explaining what they are running over and pulling their kids over on tubes and they look at me like I'm stupid. If we have a drought I'm scared of what is going to happen out there to the people that are running where they are running. I've seen the lake 10 plus ft low and if they had seen it it would blow their minds what they are right on top of.
