It's almost not even worth it to fish on the weekends anymore because of these darned boats. They fill those ballasts up with water and start plowing. Most wakes are usually 3 ft high and will stay in tact all the way to the shore. It just makes for a huge "washing machine" effect all over the lake. It was just stupid at GV yesterday. My new hours for fishing on the weekends will be sun up to about 10am. Then I'm done.....rant over!

It's getting pretty intense with the wave actions on the lakes. Once they start tearing up homeowner's docks they will enforce policies that limit the madness. I used to wakeboard, so I understand their love for it. It was pretty exciting. There are limitations to everything, though. I think they have pushed those limitations when it starts affecting everyone else on the lake including personal property.

They should be illegal. It's a safety hazard. Some of those things throw off wakes big enough to swamp your boat or throw you off. Someone on a kayak is gonna get killed.

Someone on a kayak is gonna get killed. there was a man in a red kayak under the log cabin bridge on Cedar Creek Saturday. SO many boats were going under, lots on pad (no bass boats). Waves everywhere. I idled by him slowly and felt bad for the guy. I figured he was going to end up a statistic by the end of the day.

Lots of horror stories from Cedar Creek last weekend... At least on the Vine there aren’t sea walls to deflect it right back out.
Had one over the weekend do a complete circle around me... I figured that’s what I get for trying to fish In 25ft deep water. Lol.

It has been brutal on Eagle Mountain. I have never seen this many boats out on the lake before.

Fished Champs on Cedar Creek on Saturday and it was awful out there. This was a washing machine on steroids. After 11:00 it was hard to keep your feet on the deck especially for an old fat guy like me. We were idling under the 198 bridge coming in at the end of the day and in the next space over an estimated 180 foot (looked that big) cabin cruiser came through running all out. We had to turn the nose of the boat in to the wake coming at us to not get swamped. Insanity

It’s amazing that TPWD says we are responsible for our wakes but yet they allow these boats on the water. These waves they produce are destructive to property and potentially life. I’ve seen them wakeboard and kneeboard in no wake zones more times than I can count. Hell Saturday I was literally a mile out in the middle of the lake fishing near the river channel and had 3 of these boats run within 2 casts of me. Total open water all the way around.
I can backlash toilet paper.

If you are fishing Lewisville Okie the sun up to 10:00AM thing is what I did when we lived down there. It is bad to be on plane heading to a new spot and all of the sudden you are air born from wake from a boat several hundred yards away. The lake is everyone's so I go early and leave when the pleasure boat crowd shows or spend my time up in the trees on Roberts. I have actually seen a wake boat put in at Buck creek though, not sure why or where they went but I thought "now that is going to get ugly". Hopefully everyone stays safe this summer!
See you on the lake and have a great day!

The worst part about these things is you can't time the waves like you can from wind blown wave action. They literally come from every direction. We hit a wake boat wave so hard at the ignition tournament on Cedar Creek a few weeks back that it busted the housing on my front graph. Wind was less than 5mph that day. Never even heard of that before. I like fishing Cedar Ceek, but I refuse to fish that lake again until it gets cold and the wake boat idiots leave. I can't even imagine the dollar figure for the amount of shoreline and retaining wall destruction these things do. I've come to the conclusion that avoidance is the only solution. Just fish lakes that are to stumpy for those idiots to drive around in circles in.

We were fishing a main lake dock and one of them came within 40 ft of us laughing the whole time. Just about crashed into the dock. Some people are just worthless.

Now that the grass is gone on lake Austin, the wake boats are causing increased erosion on the shorelines. This time of year it's a constant wave pool basically. It's narrow so the waves just bounce off the shoreline then back into oncoming waves. It's brutal

Conroe is probably the worst lake I've ever been on during the warm months due to the lake lice.

We completely quit going to Lake Conroe due to the endless stream of boats and wave action, and that was before Ski-does even showed up.
Went to Lake Mexia to bass fish on Sunday. Maybe 3 or 4 boats on the whole lake. Apparently the same number of bass on the lake too. Wife caught a small one, and I lost a nice one. That’s off topic, but I need sympathy...
