Some folks swear by lighter main lines and even lighter tag lines. I personally use a 20lb main line Flouro with a 10-12 lb Flouro leader. I tried using a mono leader for a bit but just didn't get the hook up Ratio i was looking for or had gotten using a flour leader.

I usually stick with a 1/2 egg sinker (lead or steel ) Tungsten is way to pricy in regards to how many i break off. Ill go to 3/4 if its really windy or i need to get deep otherwise 1/2!it is.

Lizards, flukes and craws are my choices for dragging. Normally in White (fluke) or green pumpkin (lizards and craws.

I like to drag it out behind the boat about 30 yards or so then bang it against whatever structure i find.

I've been using 20 lb Fluro main line and a 15lb Big Game leader. I like the mono to float a brush hog or fluke a bit more. I also have some bubble fry's I guard with my life! Weight wise I go lead, either 3/4 or 1 ounce over 15 foot deep. Shallower I may throw 1/2. Been dragging a lot more this year, getting a few bites and trying to learn the lake better.

I use 20lb fluoro main line and 15lb big game leader. I do believe you are missing out on not using a tungsten sinker. the feel is SOOO much better with them and allows you to really determine what the fish are relating to.

On Rayburn I use 20lb everything. 1oz sinker in lead. No issues....7'6 cara crig rod.

A great alternative to the bubble fry style baits is the grandebass rattlesnake. Great action on a crig

depending on lake structure , I tend to use two types of Crig's .
1) for deeper , rocky conditions , 1/2 to 3/4oz , 15lb main , 12 lb leader , and leader length of 12-24 inches . I feel as long as I am checking my line frequently -- I don't worry about breaking off .
2) for weedy conditions , I use either 12lb main and 10 lb leader , or I might even go 10 main and 8lb leader ( clear water) --- in this scenario , I use a really light weight ---like 1/16oz or 1/8oz . I like to crawl a Crig over the tops of coongrass --- it's great if the tops of the grass are in 5-10 feet of water . My PB ( 12.5lbs ) was caught this way ( 10lb main , 10lb leader ( floro ) .

I also rig up my leaders ahead of time ---- I use a 12" section of a pool noodle and rig up 6-8 leaders . I use 1/2 of a paper clip to secure the swivel end --- and retying on the boat is super easy and fast .

The only thing I don't like about Crigs is how often you'll " gut " hook a fish ---- .

40# braid mainline and 15# fluro leader. Anywhere from 1/4 to 3/4 oz. sinker depending on depth and water conditions.

I guess I don't have that good of a sense of feel because I have two C-rigs set up both 1/2 oz, one tungsten and one lead and I can't tell a difference. I can feel everything on bottom with both.

Tungsten alone wont make much of a difference if you're using the wrong line and a rod that isn't all that sensitive.

Do y’all do anything about the unusually heavy weight banging up against your rod when it’s stored?

Well I am using a Dobyns Extreme rod with Invizx fluorocarbon main line. Is that not sensitive enough?

I can feel the bottom just fine with lead weights. I think tungsten weights are over rated for the C-rig. I use them all the time for my Tx. rig because they are smaller in size.
I just don't think they are needed for a C-rig.
If you aren't feeling the bottom good enough with lead weights then your set up isn't correct, wrong line and a rod that isn't all that sensitive.

Why is it banging your rod in a stored position? I put the hook on the hook keeper on the rod then wrap the line around the guides a couple of times. That keeps it from tangling and holds the weight tight against the rod.

I’m new to C-rigging but I did that this afternoon and there was still a decent amount of play. I put a rod sock on it to store in my rod box and that helps. But the thought of that 3/4 to 1 oz weight banging at all against my expensive rod isn’t comforting.
