I don’t think it will have much of an impact on the election, other than maybe a slight tick in his favor because some moderates hate this type of action and have been impacted by Twitter’s shadowbanning and shady censorship.

Per usual, I don’t like Trump’s tactics, but I understand what he is doing. Twitter in particular is really bad at handling situations where a mob of people report tweets from people they don’t like. Twitter is terrible at explaining reasons why some accounts are punished, or shadow banned, and about 100 other things. Twitter clearly is afraid to censor foreign leaders who tweet similar and worse things than what Trump is tweeting and saying this week.

Twitter’s rules and discipline has been a problem for a long time, and they’re not handling this situation well, either, but I also think Trump could get the same result with different, less abrasive tactics.

If you are going to fact check one person on your service, you must fact check all. It was a bad move by Twitter. There is no way any service can fact check all the content published by their users.

But Trump isn't "just one person", is he. He's the POTUS and his words and actions carry weight and meaning, and have far reaching consequences. As president, and representative of the United States on the world stage, he is supposed to speak with eloquence and gravitas.

Please inform me when he does.

You get to define how somebody is supposed to act or is there some panel of experts?

She's comparing Trump, as president, to a normal Tweeter.
Same as in a movie theatre. When a 5 year old runs down the aisle and shouts "Fire!" everyone looks around.
When the fire chief shouts "Fire!" you start running.

How he's supposed to conduct himself in the public is his own choice, far different than any president I've ever listened to. Thats on him and those who put him there. My hope is once he's gone, so too will the hatred and disdain that he uses so often.

What gets me most about defending Trump in this case is he lied so profusely in his first two tweets that had warnings.
His last one was just what Twitter said it was, threatening shooting. Nobody should get away with those kind of threats and especially the president who can make that happen.

The three of you can't help but make it personal. I posted twitter and trump were both right and have repercussions.

That must be too complicated for the haters of trump. Emotional maturity will allow you to make a rational post once in a while without drooling about someone you hate.

The power is with the people, not the government. They are civil servants to work for the people.
Let's all do what we can to make our communities better and ignore the side show/train wreck.

I just discovered earlier this week that one of my daughters made a ghost account to read all my posts.
I'm slowly going back and editing anything disparaging I might have said about girlscout cookies and how long it takes some members of my family to get ready.
