but not mine!

I took an OT TFF'er out to Lewisville for some crappie fishing yesterday. The fish are there but still not on a good bite yet so after fishing a few of my better spots (brush piles, timber, condos), I asked BCBasscat if he had ever tried dock shooting. He hadn't but was game to give it a shot (pun intended). He caught on (well, sort of) and managed to catch quite a few of the lil bastages. In the process, he managed to make his thumb/fingers look like he was a beginning heroin addict.

I had a great time just sitting back to watch him try to master this new technique. It's like playing golf, lots of frustrating shots but you get that perfect shot and get rewarded with a bite and then it makes it worth it until your next bad shot.

We had a great time, talked a little smack and managed to bring a few fish home for supper. fish

(and 'yes' RJ, we got to use my almost brand new livewell and now it smells like fish.)

BC probably thought Dock Shooting was something with Kahlua in it.

Is it that hard to do? Any tips if it is? Have heard about it and thinking of going back to doing some crappie fishing again.

roflmao Sounds like a good time. I like fried crappie, a lot, and I'll be down there all weekend. Just sayin' in case I missed the invite from either one of you.

Tried dock shooting a few years ago...didn't go well for my thumbs. Seems I'm not the only one that learned the hard way. AHAAHHAHA

Not hard, but will take some practice. Use a fast tipped rod, and have some Neosporin ready...

Dumb question but do you think you could use a bow release thing to shoot the docks? I bleed very easily due to the meds I am on is the reason I ask.

He mentioned a jig that has tabs on the head that give you some extra room for error.

I had to look up what dock shooting was. Very cool and will have to try that someday.

Another reason to always wear a cup. No telling where that jig is going once it’s released.
