 New Boat - Lake Lewisville advise

Guys/Gals,
New here and just got a boat. Been fishing lake fork for years 2x a year for crappie. Know that lake decent after ~20 years fishing it but I’m in coppell(dfw) and looking for some tips (note: not looking for your honey holes) on where to find so brush/standing timber in Lewisville lake. I have been putting in at hickory creek and fished the bridges and the hump just north west of the dam but haven’t found much brush to speak of... I have plenty of electronics but still learning to use them so any and all help would be greatly appreciated....

Best bet is to sink your own piles. fish will be on them pretty quick. Also you can head west from hickory creek and find standing timber. with all the rain the gates are still open and fishing has been unusually tough. https://www.swf-wc.usace.army.mil/c...orts&report=fish&csrf=PsPkt0vPxf

Navionics app will tell you where the flooded timber is, as far as brush piles go, as TheDudeAbides said, setting out your own is the best way. Find some submerged timber along the old dam...
Drive along the shore in 15' of water and you will find brush piles...
The old Lake Dallas cut will hold fish as well if you can squeeze in with all of the other boats...

There are hundreds of brush piles in Lewisville. Adding more will help to make it an even better lake.
Work with your electronics to better understand what you are looking at. If you fish the bridge or standing timber, see how depth finder showes sub surface vs. your assumptions. This time of year, look for anomalies on the bottom in the 15-20 foot depth with fish around them . Study videos about your depth finder. Visit and talk with other guys fishing for crappie. And most importantly study pages like this with an inquisitive mind.
Or, do several trips with a good guide. Watch learn and apply it to what you do.

Found some yesterday - thanks and great advise from all. Caught 20 or so keepers in 24 ft above standing timber. Nothing giant but at least I can find them now. Again thank you all!!!

Little if any standing timber in old Lake Dallas, but standing timber almost everywhere in Lewisville. Also, hundreds, if not thousands of plies in old and new lake combined. Go to the east end of the dam and head north. If you can't find piles and timber both on that east side, well...…….
