I think if you have children in school and getting free day care for each of those crumb snatcher, you need to pay so much per child per year.

Instead of paying extra, like we think they should, they get tax breaks for every kid they have.

Public schools are the worst socialist program we have.

I have 3 children, 2 old enough for school and paid just shy of 25k in day care 2 years ago. Now 1 is in middle school and all 3 will be in school next year. Where am I to get my free day care from.

Mother of the child should be home taking care of the kids

Now that we have your opinion on women, I can't wait to hear your thoughts on minorities.

What the state really needs to do is to revisit the concept of school funding and bond measures. My two cents:

- Senior exemption (over 65) should mean no school tax assessment
- All school bond measures should require a 2/3 majority to pass.

By implementing the above those above the age of 65, who have most likely paid school taxes for 40 years, could be relieved of that burden and, if a small town school wants a professional quality football stadium there better be a strong majority of folks who want the extra bill.

Of course, I am sure Beto has some better ideas but those are my main two.

No one wants to pay taxes, but yet we want the benefits taxes provide. Everyone benefits from good public schools - kids or not. Everyone benefits from good roads - driver or not. We benefit from safe water and sewer services - water well, outhouse or not.
We benefit from a strong police presence - lawbreaker or not. I choose not to appeal my taxes here in McKinney as I feel we get quality of services for what we pay and don't want to see the city decline in these services.

How much you paying per year?

My issue is for school tax which is about 70% of the property taxes. I have no issue with Frisco roads, police or fire department.

It the school taxes and I understand we also pay for other cities as well

Don't talk about roads and property taxes. They're paid for with a gasoline tax and a toll road tax

Get ready for increases above the cap. I just heard that there is a provision in the law that taxes can be raised more then the cap in case of a national emergency. Not sure if that includes school districts or just cities and counties.

Yea, I heard that one today as well. Looks like Dallas County is going to try to use it.
