I have been working on a side imaging series giving some info out to help people understand side imaging. I uploaded a new youtube video on my site covering the subject as well as wrote an article. Check it out if interested.

From what I’ve found is they each have their place. Mega imaging would shine if you were trying to look for crappie beds, blue gill beds, structure, rocks, trees, etc. if you’re like me trying to find groups of white bass and hybrids or catfish, then 455 is your tool of choice that will more easily pick up their signatures

Thanks, Clay. I just learned more in those nine minutes than I have in several hours of trying to learn myself. I look forward to your next side scan videos.

Great video! Look forward to the others. Would you use Mega or 455 for crappie holding in brush, or when passing by a dock when dock shooting?

Never Outsmart Common Sense.

Thank you Clay, I look forward to watching the next video. Its been a steep learning curve for me trying to get proficient at finding and catching hybrids in my Local lake. I spent most of last weeks free time researching and watching a number of your videos. Then last Friday afternoon is all came together for me and we found and caught a number of great hybrids including a big fat 9 pounder!

That’s a great question. I’ve used 455 to look under a dock with success or seeing em on bridge pillars or standing timber. Basically stuff I can keep in the water column part of the SI. I would be curious to play with mega imagining in some of those situations though.

Lake Waco. This is a relatively new Hybrid lake. They started stocking it in 08 and there seems to be a good healthy population of Hybrids in there. Its been a challenge consistently getting on them. Typically ill catch them schooling with whites but after watching your videos I went out by myself to specifically target hybrids. There is a nice piece of structure that runs off the river channel where the old hwy 6 ran across the lale before it was impounded. There is a half mile strip of humps with pretty steep sides that runs the width of the lake. I threw out a couple rattle traps and trolled in different patterns across and along thay structure watching the side acan. I would hook up a fish and then roll back across them getting an idea what they look like on my graph.

ife and I went back on Saturday. I netted some shad and headed for a couple of places I marked and all I needed was one. We sat in that spot for 3 hrs catching fish on both shad and slabs. Icing on the cake was a big chunk that took my wife's slab on medium light tackle.
