The state is releasing 150,000 Florida strain bass fingerlings at Paris Landing.
I thought the Florida bass did not withstand prolonged periods of cold water. Am I wrong about this?

I get very tired of states' infatuation with "Florida strain" bass. If you want a cantankerous fish that's very moody, and sulks when the temp drops 2 degrees, get you some good 'ol Florida bass! I've lived in non-Florida states and in south Florida itself (20 years, near Lake Okeechobee). Northern strain bass are (in my opinion) way easier to catch. Most bass any of us catch are going to be under 10 pounds anyway, so what do we really gain by ruining the fishable characteristics of a species. One day, I wonder if "experts" will look back on this idea as a monumental mistake - on par with the grass-carp mentality.

this is why catfishing is better.

Before they introduced the FS seems bass were easier to catch. May not have been as big but a bent pole is better than a skunk to me.

I wonder how many people stop to think about the thousands of anglers more fishing for bass than decades ago? Bass weren't usually targeted for food when you had crappie and catfish around. Also, the bass have probably seen everything in the book thrown at them from $100,000 boats armed with Live scope to thousands of different lures. Back when I was a kid, you fished a Creme worm, Rapala, or Dardevle. If you pulled out the exotics, maybe a Mepps or H&H. I'm just saying, maybe bass are getting smarter.

this is why catfishing is better. Agree. I like to catch and not spend my lifetime hunting.

That number seems like a drop in the bucket. Isn’t your home lake huge.
