I tried choke yesterday with my little kayak, and no, no Alligators attacked me
. I saw a few bass feeding/jumping, but they were always in the heavy seaweed and I don't have gear or experience fishing that. I don't know what that weed is but it's very thick and comes right to the surface. I didn't see any panfish or anything else, there seems to be very few fish around the state park where I was fishing.

We don't have "seaweed" in freshwater, LOL. That appears to be hydrilla, aka "bass magnet". Go look at some videos on "punching mats" or "flipping mats". Hydrilla is often structured with a "canopy" so it is open underneath. This happens to be a favorite hang-out for bass. You just need to find the right spot of hydrilla.

there should be bass all around that hydrilla. you have to fish the edges of it, or find the pockets in it. beyond that, any bait that you can fish in there that doesn't pick up too much weeds should catch fish eventually. plastics, spinnerbaits, buzz baits. If memory serves me for a long time the standing lake record bass was caught at the boat ramp of the mason point ramp. I won't say the best fishing on the lake is around the ramps/park but there are certainly a lot of fish caught there. lot of good catfish in the lake too, fish chicken liver or stink bait under a bobber up against any of the multitude of standing timber in the lake will certainly get you as least some action.

you don't see the alligators so much on the main lake. they are there but its not been my experience that you really come into contact with them much that way. if you go in the river though or up any of the backwater/more remote parts of the lake you will definitely start to see them. generally they keep their distance but i've had times where they were curious about the boat and would come closer than i would have guessed. and there are some big ones. 5-6ft pretty common, 10ft and larger definitely present.

If you get out right at the break of dawn and throw a whopper plopper close to the hydrilla and work it back to you, bass will tear that up!! I was just there a month ago. The early morning bite with top water is always a lot of fun!!
