Thanks for the replies on my Athens post.. If I do decide to stop at Palestine on the way to Crockett for the hell of it I'll probably put in by the dam at Deep End Ramp. Was just wondering if theres any navigational hazards on the south end of Palestine. That's the only area I'd be fishing

Sorry for another thread, gotta ask!

It's mostly clear from Highway 155 to the dam at this water level, but there are a few points and some random trees that can still cause you some issues. Spend $30 and buy the navigation chip from Tom Mayne.

If there for only 3 hours, put in at dam, work the rock rip rap on the dam first. Then go straight across to Chimney Cove (no hazards to worry about between dam and Chimney Cove) and fish every boat dock from the mouth of the cove all the way back to the small hwy 346 bridge. Once you get to the bridge work your way back out of the cove by hitting all the docks on the opposite side of what you just fished. If you do it right (meaning slow and thorough) you should hit the 3 hour mark. It's not a secret cove by an means but you have limited time. And it's fun to fish because it has a little of everything-flooded shoreline grass, docks, retaining walls, a little timber. The middle of Chimney is full of trees so don't run on pad across the cove.....most of it will be wake free anyway.

This is what I was looking for, thank you. 3hrs is just a said time, if the fishing is good then I may stay until dark, who knows. I just don't see spending money for a chip on a lake I'll be fishing once

I think that buoy was put there by the home owners not the river authority. At least that's what I've been told. I see boats on plane all the time past the buoy. It won't matter if he's just fishing the docks though.

Just returned from staying 5 days at Palestine. I have never been there before and my buddy hasn't been for 10+ years. Beautiful lake. We did pretty well in the lower end of the lake. First bass was 5.6 lbs. Our first morning we boated 23, biggest being 5.4lbs. Biggest bass of the week was 8.4lber. We talked to several locals on their docks, they said it was busy, like a holiday weekend. We laughed, the most boats we saw on the main lake was 8. In the morning, we had the lake pretty much to ourselves. The weekends, I suspect are busier, but during this past week, it was a ghost town. I loved it.

I went to his website and it has a lot of information of what he offers but the site does not give a way to contact him. Anyone know how to contact the guy?
