Wife and I use Hi-vis yellow on a few poles and clear on a few, and I really can’t tell a difference in catching fish. I do like that I can see the hi-vis line. Maybe others have better info.

As age catches up to your eyes, even with glasses, you may find it difficult to see clear line, even when tying a knot. As soon I finish up my 2500 yd spool of clear, I will definitely change to a colored line. I have used Hi-vis 4 lb yellow tippet material while fly fishing, and was amazed as I found it made little difference, if any, on catching fish, but boy was it easier tying on small flys. shocked

I use the same, only I use 8 lbs line because I do a lot of drifting and trolling with it.

I have my favorite rod set up with 7lb sinking braid. Its green and has red indicator marks on it. Its the diameter of 2 lb test and I have a real hard time seeing it. If the red marks were not on the line most of the time I would not be able to see it at all when winding it on the spool. I can cast th bait twice as far with it vs 6 lb fluorocarbon.

I have found that under certain circumstances, especially clearer water, that
sunfish can be line shy and sometimes extremely so. I have proven this a number of times.

I do like to use Visible lines however. It makes bite detection much easier.
What I do is tie a 5 foot section of Fluoro or clear Mono directly to the Hi-Viz
main line using a Uni-Knot. This way I have the best features of both types of lines.

Another thing I like about using a direct tie-on leader is that I can use a lower
pound test leader section. That way when I get hung and have to pull off I
will only break off the leader section and not break the main line.

I’m in this camp. I’m a huge believer in low-vis line. Green line specifically. Right now I have low-vis green NanoFil on my panfish rods and I direct tie a Maxima Ultra Green leader to finish it off. The combo of being able to launch baits to unsuspecting fish and them not being able to see as many flaws in my presentation gives me confidence that I can catch fish even if I can’t see fish. I’ve tried other lines and low-vis definitely wins out for me. Especially in our clear waters in and around Central Texas. The main hang up is definitely that the low-vis line is definitely harder to see. When I’m tying knots in lower light, it can be a real pain. Also, when I need to be a line watcher, it can make things difficult. I plan to get some high-vis Nanofil and try it on my other St Croix rig and see if I notice a difference in bites. I’ll let y’all know what I find.

I'm also a proponent of fluoro; I've only ever used clear for fluorocarbon smile
