If you choose not to send it in with the $90 replacement fee. I will buy the broken rod for fifty bucks. If you send it back I will give you $200 for the new replacement rod. Sorry that happened , it's always a bummer when you have an equipment failure. It would be nice if they made a rod that never broke, and motor that never blew, a reel that never backlashed. Hey maybe a wife that never griped.

The more sensitive the rod is the more brittle it is and the easier it is to break-or so I have always been told.
And I think anglers do damage to their rod and don't even realize that they have damaged it. Until it breaks.

I totally understand and agree that some sort of abuse, accidental or otherwise is the cause for most failures. But why is it always Dobyns that gets a thread. You never see these threads for Gloomis or Falcon or Shimano. But you see them every week on Dobyns or 13. We had an excellent retailer in the DFW area that quit selling Dobyns because he was warrantying more rods than he was selling.

A Rods only as good as the people making it. Companies change suppliers, suppliers change suppliers, labor force Turns over, delivery employees can be rough. It could’ve been dropped by the seller while displaying or packaging. A million things can happen to that rod before it gets to the consumer.
Any Brand is one mistake away from quality issues. I’ve seen several brands come and go because of that very stuff. So even the once mighty can start producing junk.

I've fished Dobyns almost exclusively for 5 years now. Own a handful of NRX's and Kistlers.
Broken Dobyns: One tip from high sticking. Another tip from jamming it into my rod locker forcefully during a heavy rain. Both were $340 rods replaced at $80, no questions asked.
Broken NRX: dropped my trolling motor on the but end. Shattered the graphite. Replaced under warranty (don't remember cost, but it was reasonable for cost of rod).
Only other rod I've ever had break, other than a guide inserts, was the reel seat on a ducket. Didn't bother replacing it because the rod was...not my favorite.
I pay retail for all of my rods.

Dobyns break end of story. Some of them are awesome and have held up but some break. I don't even bother spending the big bucks for the extreme anymore, seems like the champs and the Fury's are most durable.

Made in China is all I can say.. Just like your white Oakleys and Huk shirt and flatbill cap. Overpriced piece of graphite. Never did like Dobyns.
Falcon is the way to go

Falcon is the way to go I love my Falcon rods too, but man, they’re made in China too now.

3 of em? Never snapped a falcon. Forget the 90 and get a good rod. I broke a Falcon Cara 5-610 a few years back swingin a 2.5 # bass into the boat. It was brand new. 1st fish on its 1st trip. They replaced it for $45 bucks + shipping. I've also lost quite a few guide eye inserts come out. It happens. Hasn't happened in quite a while though. I still like and buy Falcons.
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

I have the same issue with Lews rods. Broken 3 of them. All different lengths and actions. Guess I will pass on dobyns too
When I am not fishing I am thinking about fishing. And mostly what I should have done differently my last trip! #Brockstarama

I guess it is just luck of the draw because I have about 30 Dobyns rods and haven't broken a single one. Last weekend i pulled in a hefty log with a Dobyns Extreme 703. I was impressed. I like the Sirerra line of Dobyns rods also and I think the Fury are great rods for the price.

Get Ugly Sticks. They never break and last forever!
Biden famously said in the New York Observer, “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”
