It is a 7'5" heavy fast, tried to swing a 3 1/2 in the boat, snapped it in the middle, dammit. Wonder if they will cover it or will i have to pay the 90 bucks or whatever they charge. Like their rods but i have snapped 3 of them over the past couple years.

I’ve snapped two. One recently on the first trip I used it. And other one was a few years ago on the second trip. Be hard pressed to buy another.

Not to my knowledge, had a buddy have the same exact thing happen, broke right in the middle, I should not have tried to swing the fish, it was just a situation where i felt like i needed to or maybe lose the fish, had to well rope her in after the rod snapped, lol.

I had a brand new Champ snap a few weeks ago bringing in a branch. Yea, it was pushing some stress, but it still shouldn't have snapped the rod. My Curado and KVD rods have never snapped reeling in a branch.

Man, I was fixing to order me a Dobyns Rod. I this breaking to a certain series or across the board on all series'?

I have 4 of them, I guess I can’t snap them because I can’t catch fish! I have no issues with mine, not the most sensitive, but work fine for moving baits. Mine aren’t the expensive ones though, might make a big difference on snapping.

Snapped my Cara yesterday swinging a small fish so it can happen to any rod.
I'll be honest though- it is HIGHLY likely that it has been stepped on, thrown, kicked or otherwise abused over the last 15 years. It has also caught 1000s of fish.

All rods will snap with just a little ding through the outer resin into the carbon fiber, and it doesn't help to try to repair one. It seems like the more sensitive the rod is the easier they break. If it breaks around a rod guide under the thread without any visible damage it's almost certainly on the builder.
The warranty is a lot of what you pay for in the higher end rods and $90 aint a bad deal if it's been used and abused some like all of mine have been. When you get a new rod, check it real close for anything that looks like might be damage from even before the outer resin was applied and take real good pictures if anything doesn't look right. There's no sense giving them a way out of honoring their warranties.
These things probably get shipped and moved around quite a bit sometimes before they get to us.
