Every Lowrance I have owned over many years has gotten water in it. Lowrance's response is "Our units are "water resistant", not "water proof""!!!

Ok, I'll deal with Lowrance. Any recommendations/tips on connecting with Lowrance to address the issue(s)? I've sent a note to their online service portal but haven't received any replies. I imagine Covid has everyone's service departments trimmed down considerably. Never dealt with Lowrance before on a product failure issue. (and I've owned Lowrance for the last 20 years) my Lowrance gen(3) 9 was almost 2 1/2 years old when I had similar issues.. called Lowrance, found out it had a 3 year warranty. lowrance told me to ship it to.them so they could check it out. ( I had to pay for shipping and insurance. about $25) they sent me a new Hds live 9 with a 3 in 1 transducer. nice trade off.. customer service # 1-800-628-4487

Quick update from Lowrance-spoke to customer service. They were ok on phone. Straightforward. Only took about an hour to call me back which is good. Long story short I'm sending the unit it for a possible repair. It's past the 2 year warranty (which I hate because it's not like an electronic component failed-a seal failed and allowed half a gallon of rainwater into the unit!) so my only options are a repair (which won't happen since it's water logged) or an upgrade. Next level up from what I have is an HDS Carbon 9 Gen 3 at $798. So 2 1/2 year old unit, seal breaks, and I'm out basically $800 and at least a month without a working unit. On the positive side, it sounds like the Carbon upgrade won't require any new wiring/transducer/cables so I'll be able to just plug it in. So while I'm at it, what are the differences between the two units? What was improved in the Carbon series?
